Who can join?
Whether you’re studying, working or taking a gap year, The RAW Academy is for anyone driven to serve with RAW, and grow themselves along the way.
We are looking for people who want to:
- Serve with RAW and change the game for communities in Australia, Cambodia and around the world
- Learn what it means to lead the RAW way, whether in front of the team or on the project site
- Be proactive, curious, and jump in the deep end to level themselves up

The details
What’s involved?
Your commitment
2 team trips: On Country trips are 5 days and Cambodia trips are typically 10-12 days. (excluding travel time)
Outside of trips, expect to spend about 30 hours on Academy work spread throughout the year in the first year, and 10 in the second.
Finances
Your costs
There is no charge for the Academy, you just need to pay for flights and other transport to get yourself to and from the trips. RAW will fund all your on-the-ground costs during your 2 teams. Expect to spend $2000 to $4000 for transport over the course of the first year, depending on flight prices and where you live.
After first year, those who progress on their leadership journey with RAW can expect to receive additional subsidies toward their travel costs.

Can I fit this in around study or work?
You sure can! Just make sure you have enough annual leave to come along on 2 trips throughout the year. We’ll do all we can to help you fit your trips around uni holidays if needed.
Can I still come on Converge in future years?
Absolutely, we would love you to keep coming back on our Converge trip, and bring your mates along!
Do I have to do both years?
No, at the end of the first year in Academy we can review together to decide if it is best for you to continue in the Academy or not. We understand things change in life and that may affect how much you can get involved with RAW. However, we are looking for people motivated to keep serving with RAW over the long term.
What will the training look like?
There will be plenty of on-the-job training while you’re on team trips as you try your hand in all the roles that make RAW tick. Throughout the year, there’ll be online workshops, training modules and zoom sessions to get you ready for your time on teams.
